Infant Dedication

There will be an infant dedication service at the 11:15am service this morning for James Prior, son of John and Nathalie Prior. We look forward to welcoming their friends and family on this special occasion.

Prayer Meeting

Please note there will be a prayer meeting at church tonight at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Anne Saunders’ trip

Anne Saunders will be sharing her experiences from her trip to Brazil with Street Child United at the prayer meeting this evening. We would encourage you to come along and hear how God has been working through Anne and it will be an opportunity to pray for this continuing work.

Ladies’ Supper @ Priory Street

Monday 16th May, 7:30pm; Guest Speaker – Ruth Lancaster; Cost approx £5 for a curry!  Please sign up on the sheet at the back. Fresh notes for study buddies are also on the table at the back. Please take one!

Big Church Day Out or New Wine for free?

If you are interested in being part of either of these events, then we are looking for lots of volunteers to help in a café at BCDO (late May) and NW1 (late July) and NW2 (early August).  This is just serving cake & coffee, no baking involved! You get a free ticket, three meals a day, training and uniform.  For details, please contact Susan Wingrave.

Midweek Service

Our next midweek service will be held this Wednesday, 4th May, at 2pm. The text is Luke 19.11-27 and there is communion. Eric will be leading and preaching.  Please speak to Eric Seager for more details of this service.

The Barn Dance

This is taking place NEXT SATURDAY, 7th May at Selwyn Hall, Box. Doors open at 6:30pm. Food from 7pm. Dancing from 7:30-10pm!  There are notice boards at the back of the church with lists relating to the Barn Dance for people to sign up for bringing food and to help with the organisation. PLEASE SIGN UP!!!  Please also sign up to say whether you are attending! Any questions please see Wendy Rowe or a member of the Leadership Team.

P.S. you don’t have to dance!! Just come along and have fun catching up with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Church day out

We intend to have a coach trip to Weston Super Mare on Sunday 17th July leaving Corsham at 10:30 and returning at about 18:30. Costs will be dependent upon numbers going but expect around £5 per seat. The intention will be to find a spot on the beach as a base for the day where we will hold a short time of worship together.  There will be opportunity to relax, catch up with old friends from the other congregations, play some games and have a wander around the seafront and, if you like, visit the pier.  You will need to bring a picnic lunch.   Any questions please speak to Stuart or Lynne. Please note there will be a service at Priory Street on that morning for those who do not wish to go on this trip. The time of this service will be confirmed in due course.

Christianity Explored

A new Christianity Explored course will be starting this Thursday, 5th May. If you are interested in attending, or would like to know more, please contact Helen Christie or Elspeth Pitman as soon as possible.

Corsham Money & Debt Advice Centre

The ministry is flourishing and we are receiving many new clients. We currently only have four debt advisors so we are anxious to recruit more so that we can continue to serve the local community. If you feel that this is a role you could do, we would love to hear from you! For more information and to discuss what we do, please talk to Alan Christie, Alan Simon, Dave New or Roger Hammett.

Tuesday Lunch Club

Annual Church Meeting

At the ACM held on Monday night, the following elections took place: Worship Deacon – Matt Grylls; Elder – Adrian Pillinger; Treasurer w.e.f. Sept 2016 – Roger Hammett. The following people were brought into membership of CBC: Ben and Ruth Fry; John and Nathalie Prior; Jeff and Alison Smith.

Church on the Green

At the Church Meeting it was also announced that the name of our Rudloe plant is now officially “Church on the Green” (part of Corsham Baptist Church).

A reminder that James King and Esther Cole are getting married on Saturday 30th April at 12:30pm at Priory Street.

Mean bean challenge 25-29th April

In this five day challenge, some of the young people will get a taste of what over a billion people in our world experience every day – the disaster of hunger. While we eat a mean diet of just rice, plain beans and water we will be aiming to raise money for Tearfund’s local church partners that will help families and communities for whom hunger is a daily reality. It would be great if you would sponsor us as we do this. To give, please see the sponsorship form at the back of church or visit https://www.justgiving.com/teams/CBCYouth

Organisation – there are lists of various teams. We need teams for setting up, a set up food team, hot drinks teams, kitchen and tidy-up-as-we-go-along volunteers and a clearing up team at the end.

The event will be slightly different this time as we will be meeting in the back rooms and garden, reached by the side entrance – please pray for dry weather!  We will be doing the parable of the sower. Easter Holiday Bible Club

Rhiannon Price would like to say a very big thank you to everyone involved in the holiday bible club this past week. We had high numbers of children attend and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thank you for helping to share the love of Jesus with these children!

** BARN DANCE 7th May **

We are having a barn dance on the evening of Saturday 7th May at Selwyn Hall in Box. This will be a great opportunity for all our congregations to get together. We will be needing some help for this occasion.  If you can help with setting up the hall, food and/or clearing up then please write your name on the form at the back of the church.

Leadership Nominations

Nominations are open for the leadership roles of Communications’ Deacon, Worship Deacon, Treasurer and Elder. Nominations close on 10th April. Elections will take place at the Church Meeting on the 18th April.  All paperwork is on the table at the back.

Meals on Wheels

What is your signature dish – meat and two veg – quiche and salad – veggie dish?  Whatever it is, there will be lots of babies joining us at CBC in the summer months!! As such, we need to update/ increase our list of those prepared to make meals for new families. If you can help in this way please contact Joan Cooper or Lesley Didsbury.

Midweek Service

The next Wednesday service will be held on 6th April at 2pm. The text is Luke 18.18-30 and Eric will be leading and preaching. The service lasts one hour and is followed by tea/coffee and home-made cakes. Please speak to Eric Seager for more information.

The next TLC will be held on Tuesday 12th April at 12 noon. Please speak to Wendy or Michael Prior for more information about these lunch events.

Note from the Treasurer

A few more volunteers will be needed after Easter to join the team who count and record the offerings. The duty involves about 20 minutes’ work at 12:30 after the second service, roughly once a month. If you can help in this way, please contact Michael Prior.

Ministry Booklet Reports

Would all ministry leaders prepare their ministry reports for the ACM booklet and email to Louise in the office asap! It would be a shame to not have the full complement of ministries included in the booklet. Thank you to those who have already submitted theirs.
