Today we are holding Harvest services across all the CBC congregations.  Our offering will consist of non-perishable food as well as a monetary collection.  The food will go to support the work of the Corsham Churches Foodbank, and the money will be given to Tearfund to support a local church led project which is teaching rural communities to farm in a more sustainable way as they seek to combat the adverse impact of climate change.

If you are able to gift aid your donation, special yellow envelopes for your monetary offering are available on the table at the back of the building.  Please do mark them “HARVEST – TEARFUND”.  Only the contents of the yellow envelopes, and loose cash/cheques will be included in the Harvest offering total.  Blue envelopes will be treated as regular giving to the general work of the church.

Summer Mission Celebration, 4pm TODAY!

The summer period has been an exciting time for CBC/ COTG as many people have taken part in mission events either personally or through supporting those who have participated.  This afternoon we will be having a Summer Mission Celebration event where we can hear from those who served on mission events which will then be followed by praying for God’s ongoing work in these mission areas.  We will start at 4pm with finger food and hearing from those who went, followed by the evening prayer service.  We hope as many of you as possible can come and please bring some finger food to share. In addition, the Tanzania Building team will be selling shopping bags, aprons, cafetiere covers and other fabrics in support of the Africa Inland Church mission. The items are made in Morogoro in support of aids widows and their families. You will need cash to purchase these goodies!!

If you are able to help serve drinks, set up the tables and clear up, please let Wendy Rowe know. We look forward to seeing you.

Night of Prayer for Children and Youth

Note the date – 6th October, 7.30pm to midnight! (yes you read correctly!) We will be setting up prayer stations in the church designed to help you pray for the burgeoning youth and children’s work at CBC. We are simply asking you to sign up for one 30 minute slot (sign up sheet at the back). If you have not witnessed Dan’s prayer stations before – you have missed out! They have been developed to help even the most novice of pray’ers to engage with God in prayer through visual props. So why come? You get to spend time with God, you get to bring before Him some crucial ministries in the life of the church, and compared to last time’s all-nighter the latest slot finishes at midnight – it’s a WIN win situation! So sign up now!

Attention Women! – LIVING OUT GOD’S GRACE

It is a wonder and joy when we come to faith in Jesus through the gift of God’s amazing grace. Becoming Christ’s follower, though, is only the beginning! It is also about growing and becoming more like Jesus. It is hard work, and that’s where we can turn from His grace to works and get off track.

In this year’s women’s bible study, we will explore the grace of the gospel which brings us to faith in Christ and is the same grace which motivates us to live out our salvation; how to grow to maturity and holiness in Christ. To help us, we will consider Jesus’ life as he lived out the cycle of God’s grace while on earth.

If you’ve struggled with the Christian disciplines, and have found yourself weary, confused, or burnt out, this study will comfort and challenge you as you learn to rest in God’s grace in your journey to become more like Christ.

Our first study is on MONDAY, 25 SEPTEMBER at 7:30pm in the church hall. The hand outs for this study are on the table at the back.  If you need a study buddy or don’t know what one is in this context, please see ANNE HOLMES.   We hope to see you there!

You’ll come away with a better understanding of this important period having also been well-entertained by the impeccable acting, humour and music.  This is an open and free event, so please invite your friends to join too!

Extracts from…”The Adventure Continues!”

“…we’ll be flying back out to Vienna on 8th September. This time we’ll be working with the Oasis Refugee Ministry for an extended period of four months, returning home on 7th January 2018. We’re especially excited as this means we’ll be able to share Christmas and New Year with the refugees. We’ve been truly blessed by the wonderful generosity of our church family in supporting us both financially, prayerfully and practically as we’ve been preparing for this trip. And we’ve been deluged with donations in response to requests from the Oasis team for various items that are currently in short supply.  Once we’ve settled in, our intention is to update this blog with news, photos, prayer and praise reports every couple of weeks or so, as we did last year.  You can easily check for updates by typing this link http://grindrods.simplesite.com/ into your internet browser. I’ll add new pages using the date as a header. Our love and blessings to you all.  Neal and Lesley.”

The hand outs for this study will be out soon! If you need a study buddy or don’t know what one is in this context, please see ANNE HOLMES.   We hope to see you there!

Philippians Junior Church Group – can you help us?!

Reformation Remix Show – Sunday, October 8th at 6:30pm (doors open 6pm)

This year marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation starting with Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg. We owe a great deal to this period of church history, and to mark the occasion the Bible Society have created a show to tell the historical story in a very engaging and entertaining way.  Corsham Baptist Church is hosting a live performance of the show (October 8th) and regardless of whether or not you’re are a keen historian this show is not to be missed! You’ll come away with a better understanding of this important period having also been well-entertained by the impeccable acting, humour and music.  This is an open and free event, so please invite your friends to join too!

Message from Steve and Ruth Lancaster

“Greetings from Tanzania to the folks at CBC & Rudloe! On behalf of the AIM team here in Morogoro we want to say a huge THANKS to you for your continued support of the work here at Sanga Sanga. THANKS for sending out a team of willing and enthusiastic builders! All went well and the team did an awesome job in helping to raise up a new shower block, which Martin & Jo will have the pleasure of seeing through to completion! THANKS for the money that you raised for enabling this year’s project to happen, and THANKS also to those who sent cards & letters. Once again, we feel blessed to have such a supporting church behind us!  The work that the team did last year is still very much appreciated, and the three accommodation banda’s that they helped to build are now being used on a regular basis. Last month we were able to host three kids’ camps using the banda’s, and our vision of seeing Sanga as a place where God’s Word is taught is happening more and more. During this past week, we’ve also held a pastors’ conference with over 30 pastors on site, where the teaching has been based on what it means to be a leader with integrity. Things are certainly happening here at Sanga! We thank you for the valuable part you are playing in enabling this to happen. Asante Sana.”
