Assisting our Albanian brothers and sisters

Tim Stephenson,
WEBA logo

We’re received news via WEBA of two partner churches in Albania affected by the recent severe earthquake. Please read this report from an Albanian pastor currently ministering at Cairns Road Baptist Church in Bristol, pray for him as he goes to visit and for those from two of the churches in the worst affected areas, Durres and Lezhe as they seek to care for people made homeless.

As part of our ongoing partnership with a group of churches in the Albanian Baptist Union, we have collected almost 5000 filled WEBoxes, which are currently being processed and will soon be on their way to Albania. It would be a wonderful expression of our oneness in Christ if we could add a significant gift towards the food parcels already planned to be distributed through our partner churches at that time.

WEBA have a facility to transfer funds via the Albanian Baptist Union. Nigel Coles, regional team leader writes,

“If you would like to add a gift to express our love in Christ, I have no doubt it will be used wisely and reach those considered to be in the greatest need.”

Please make any gifts with the reference ‘Albania earthquake’ either:
Via the Virgin Moneygiving link on our WEBox page or via bank transfer to WEBA at CAF Bank sort code: 40-52-40 account: 00006162.

Sponsored  Compassion Child – Monthly Rate Increase.

We have been informed by Compassion UK that with effect from April 2020 the monthly rate to sponsor a child will be increasing from £25 to £28 per month.  If you already sponsor a child, you will be receiving a letter to inform you of the changes. If the increase will cause any financial difficulties for you, there is the option of continuing to sponsor your child at £25 and Compassion will make up the difference.  Please speak to Wendy R (Mission Ministry Leader) if you would like to discuss this matter further or if you would like to sponsor a Compassion Child.  Thank you.

Message from the Lancasters!

“Greetings from Tanzania! We arrived safely in Dar last Sunday night after a long day in the air – this time, with all of our luggage!! We then travelled on to Morogoro on the Monday and arrived in a downpour – albeit a very warm downpour! We found our house in good order – but had to spend two days car-cleaning due to a thick layer of fungus & mould growing on the seats! Oh the joys! It’s been great to have been back with the church family over the last seven months, and we’ve appreciated your hospitality and support – many thanks, and see you in two years”.

Harvest Offering Thank You

On behalf of Tearfund and the Corsham Churches Foodbank, thank you so much to all of the congregations at CBC for their generous support for the Harvest Offering.  A total of £1,402 was raised to support the work of our partners in Malawi, the EAGLES Relief and Development project run through the Living Waters Church.

The store cupboards at Corsham Churches Foodbank are much better placed to meet the demands of the winter season following harvest offerings taken across the community, and a letter from the CCFB Chair of Trustees is displayed on the noticeboard in the coffee hall.  As the CCFB gears up for its Christmas Hamper project, donations of seasonal treats, especially those which would bless children, would be most welcome although ideally before the end of November.  The hampers will be packed and delivered during early December.

*** Harvest Service *** – NEXT SUNDAY!!

On Sunday 29th September, the offering from the Harvest Festival services across all of our congregations will be supporting the work of the Corsham Churches Foodbank and Tearfund.  Non-perishable food items (please see the list attached) collected will be taken to the Foodbank.  Our monetary offering will be sent to Tearfund to support the work of the Living Waters Church in Malawi where their EAGLES project is empowering rural subsistence farming communities to grow crops in a more sustainable way, as they seek to combat the adverse impact of climate change.  Please do pray about how you can contribute towards this offering.

Some information about both of these projects can be viewed on the noticeboards in the coffee hall at Priory Street.  Alternatively, you can explore on the internet at:

If you are able to gift aid your donation, special yellow envelopes for your monetary offering are available on the table at the back of the building.  Please do mark them “HARVEST – TEARFUND”.  When the offering is taken on the day, only the contents of the yellow envelopes, and loose cash/cheques will be included in the Harvest offering total.  Blue envelopes will be treated as regular giving to the general work of the church.

Please speak to Paul G (Church on the Green), Michael P (Priory Street 9.15) or Roger H (Priory Street 11.15) should you wish to clarify these arrangements.
