The Ark starts again on Saturday September 29th

The puppets have finished their Summer holidays (and the helpers too) and it’s time to start the Ark again.  Hooray. Do come along if you are 0-7ish (bring an adult to join in the fun too!) on Saturday September 29th at 10.00am at Priory Street.  We will be learning about Noah’s Ark with craft, songs, bible story and of course the puppets.  Finishing at 11.00am with drinks and cakes.  Invite your friends too and above all please pray for this new term.  Thank you.

Women’s Bible Study

The next women’s bible study will take place at Priory Street on Monday 24th September at 7:30pm. Study notes on Titus are on the table at the back of church.  Please take one in preparation of the meeting.

Midweek Service

This will take place on Wednesday 26th September at 2pm.  The text is Psalm 46. Eric Seager will be leading and preaching.

Open Meeting

There will be a second “open meeting” on Sunday, 30th September for anyone who would like to know more about, discuss or make comment on the proposed leadership restructure.  This will take place in the coffee hall at Priory Street at 4:30pm. Tim Stephenson, Operations’ Manager, will lead.

The Littles’ Commissioning last week

Stuart, Lynne and Matthew Little would like to express their grateful thanks for the wonderful send off last Sunday at the tea and Commissioning Service.  We feel truly loved and supported. We are leaving for Dallas this Friday, 21st September (11:25 flight) to start our Mercy Ships training before travelling to Guinea at the end of October.  We are very thankful to Matt and Sue (of COTG) and Julie (of 11:15 service) who have agreed to be our advocates during our Mercy Ships service. Funeral

Mission Tea and Partner update

Straight after the open meeting on 30th Sept there will be tea and cake – any donations of cake will be grateful (contact Wendy) – Afterwards The Gathering will be another Mission Event because it’s the fifth Sunday. The focus will be on Mission organisations we are supporting such as Tearfund and BMS. Look forward to you joining us. Wendy – Mission Deacon

Holiday Bible Club

Rhiannon Price would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped at the Holiday Bible Club last week.  Without your support in all the different areas, we would not be able to run these clubs where children in our community hear about the love of Jesus.

Wedding

Stuart and Lynne Little would like to thank everyone who was involved in any way, before, during and after the wedding ceremony of Zoë to Seth last Saturday and for helping to make it such a special day.

Week of Prayer

Our Week of Prayer for CBC ministries begins tonight in the church (6.00pm to 7.00pm).  We have prayer points and prayer stations to help you.  Please set aside time during the week to pray individually, in families, in Life Groups, with prayer partners, with study buddies…….The church will be open

Philippians Group

The Philippians Group (Junior Church) will restart on Sunday 9th September. We look forward to seeing those who are in school years 6-8 on this date.

Soul Survivor 2019 dates!

Parents of teens, please note the following dates for Soul Survivor 2019. These differ from previous years, as we are going to a different week of Soul. The youth have told me they want to go to Week C next year as it will be the final week of Soul Survivor ever! They are ending the festival next year. The dates to get in your diary, and avoid family holidays during August, are: 23rd – 27th August 2019 (we will be returning on the 28th).  Any questions please speak to Dan Ovens.

Tea and Commissioning Service for the Littles

On Sunday 9th September there will be a tea at 4pm at Priory Street to chat and say goodbye to Stuart, Lynne and Matthew who will shortly be leaving for the USA for Mercy Ships’ training.  The tea will be followed by a commissioning service at 6pm.  If you are coming to the tea, please would you bring a cake!

Midweek Service

There will be two infant dedications on Sunday 26th August!  At the 9:15am service Mahala Pillinger (Joey and Emily’s daughter) will be dedicated and at the 11:15am service Phoenix Blystad-Collins (Colin and Heather Whiting’s grandson).  We look forward to welcoming all their friends and families.

Men’s Fight Night

Children’s Songs Practice

On Thursday 9th August at 7:30pm (at Priory Street) Heather Chilcott and Beth Mills will be running a session to brush up on children’s songs in church!  If you would like to know anything more, please contact either Beth or Heather.

July Church Meeting

The next church meeting will take place tomorrow evening, Monday 16th July 2018 at 8pm at Priory Street.  Minutes from the last meeting in April as well as the agenda are available on the table at the back of church.  Please take a copy in advance of the meeting.  They are also available to view on the church website.

MK Staff Training Course

From 22nd July to 2nd August CBC will be hosting an international group of people training to work with missionaries’ children. On Wednesday 25th July at 7.45 pm at Priory Street, there is an opportunity to meet them all, hear their stories and learn about where they are going. All welcome – contact Steve and Gill for more details.

We would love to have some tray bakes, home made biscuits etc. to offer our group for the coffee and tea breaks. If you are able to provide something, please bring it to the church from Sunday 22nd onwards. Many thanks!
On Sunday evening 22nd July we need some help to set up the church. If you are there for the evening service, please stay on for a few minutes if you can help with moving tables and chairs. The same assistance will also be needed on Sunday 29th.
Pray for safe journeys for Catharina (from Brazil), Hohwan (from Korea) and Esther (from South Africa) who are travelling to the UK this week. Thank you.

Access to the Church Building

In the near future Martin Sheringham will be changing the locks to the Priory Street church building.  If you have keys and need access please let Martin know so he can allocate a new key for you.

Open Meeting

Next Sunday 1st July, at 4:30pm, there will be an open meeting for all members of CBC to come along and ask any questions they may have regarding the future leadership structure of the church. It is an opportunity to seek clarification on anything you may be unclear about.  The meeting will lead into the prayer service at 6pm.

Women’s Bible Study

The next women’s bible study will be held tomorrow, Monday 25th June at 7:30pm.  The study notes are at the back.

The last Ark of the school year!

The last Ark of the school year is on Saturday 30th June at Priory Street from 10am.  Do come along and join us as there are lots of exciting things being planned (including two puppet songs!!)  The morning is aimed at 0-7 year olds but all are welcome, with an adult.  God-willing we will be finishing with a BBQ (which will be free) so please pray for good weather!

Please note there is no ark over the summer holidays. The next one will be on September 29th.

Thanksgiving Service, Margaret Cole

A thanksgiving service for the life of Margaret Cole will be held on Monday 2nd July at 12 noon at CBC, followed by refreshments in the coffee hall.  Please speak to Eric Seager if you require further details.

Fancy attending New Wine for Free?

Bible Society are looking for volunteers to serve in their café in Week 2 of New Wine (5-11 Aug 2018). The Gathering Weekend – 2 WEEKS’ TIME!!!

This event is taking place on 7th and 8th July 2018.  Meetings on the Saturday will be at Priory Street and on the Sunday at the Springfield Campus. Tickets at £5 per person are available through your congregational leader.  Jenny Gaisford at 9:15am; John Godwin at the 11:15am service; Norman Fuggle at the midweek service & Adrian Pillinger at Church on the Green.

MK Staff Training Course 22nd July to 2nd August

We are currently expecting 14 adults and 3 children from 8 countries to attend this event which is being hosted by CBC. There are some specific areas of need, so please get in touch with us if you are able to help. See Steve or Gill Bryant if you can:

  • be an emergency driver or ‘taxi driver’ (rota)
  • loan us a child’s car seat for age 4 to 5
  • look after three children aged 4, 5 and 11 for an hour or two

Open Meeting

On Sunday 1st July, at 4:30pm, there will be an open meeting for all members of CBC to come along and ask any questions they may have regarding the future leadership structure of the church. It is an opportunity to seek clarification on anything you may be unclear about.  The meeting will lead into the prayer service at 6pm.

Women’s Bible Study

The next women’s bible study will be on Monday 25th June at 7:30pm.  The study notes are on the table at the back.

Seniors’ Summer Tea Party

Prayer for Unsaved Family Members

Do you have family members who are indifferent or hostile to Jesus?  Perhaps they once walked with Jesus but have now turned away from Him?  Come and join us to pray for them on Wednesday June 20th 2018 at CBC 2-3pm.

Visit of Rev. Dr. Edgard Traboulsi

The Rev. Dr. Edgard Traboulsi and his wife Nada will be visiting our church on Sunday 24th June when he will preach at both the 9.15 and 11.15 services at Priory Street. Edgard is Minister of Lebanon Baptist Church and was recently elected an MP in the Lebanese parliament. He will give his testimony of God’s wonderful work in his life and update us on the latest situation in Lebanon.

The last Ark of the school year!

The last Ark of the school year is on Saturday 30th June at Priory Street from 10am.  Do come along and join us as there are lots of exciting things being planned (including two puppet songs!!)  The morning is aimed at 0-7 year olds but all are welcome, with an adult.  God-willing we will be finishing with a BBQ so please pray for good weather!

Fancy attending New Wine for Free?

Bible Society are looking for volunteers to serve in their café in Week 2 of New Wine (5-11 Aug 2018). There’s no cooking involved and you get to serve with a great team of volunteers and staff.  If you are interested, please contact Sue Wingrave.

Please note the craft club will not be held on the 7th July as it normally would have but will take place on Saturday 14th July. This year we will also have a summer meeting on 4th August.  Please chat to Pam Mitchell or Hazel Hammett if you would like further information.
