Jesus himself gave us our mandate to get involved in reaching the nations; that’s our commission and our task as a body of believers. As the church seeks to reach the lost overseas, what mission projects are CBC involved in? As we head into a new year and begin our series of monthly mission-focussed Sunday services, our first meeting will be led by Steve Lancaster who heads up the work of “The Word for the World” (TWFTW) Bible Translators here in the UK. Half day Bereavement Care Awareness course run by Care for the Family

The Church had hoped to be able to offer a half day course for anyone wanting to learn more on how to better support people in our community that are in grief after suffering bereavement and loss. We would need substantial numbers to make it viable to bring in the outside speakers from Care for the Family, and have not had sufficient enquiries to date. We met as a church on 6th January to discern Gods calling to open an outreach centre in Rudloe. Church members voted collectively and the majority voted in favour of proceeding with plans for Rudloe.

On Monday 20th January 8pm (in the sanctuary) everyone is invited to join the Facilitation Team to pray for our church activities for the year ahead. The Facilitation Team meet monthly to plan and organise a number of activities/tasks that often take place behind the scenes. These jobs are really important in helping the church to run smoothly and in turn enable the gospel to be proclaimed in our town. This month we’re going to start the year praying for our property, safeguarding, finances, technology, events and a number of other aspects of church life. We would love others to join us as we lift up these matters to The Lord in prayer as we start 2025!

Mission-focus evening service on Sunday Feb 9th, 6pm

We’re all agreed that the message of the glorious gospel needs to be proclaimed amongst all peoples and all nations. Jesus himself gave us our mandate to get involved in reaching the nations; that’s our commission and our task as a body of believers. As the church seeks to reach the lost overseas, what mission projects are CBC involved in? As we head into a new year and begin our series of monthly mission-focussed Sunday services, our first meeting will be led by Steve Lancaster who heads up the work of “The Word for the World” (TWFTW) Bible Translators here in the UK. Church meeting & Elder elections – 10th Feb

Please note 10th February in your diary as the date of the next Church Meeting. The meeting will include Elder elections. The oversight team are proposing to increase the number of elders by one, in recognition that we are a growing and busy church. Therefore, we will be voting on the election of three Elders. Adrian Pillinger and Alan Christie have been faithfully serving as Elders and their terms come to an end in January. Both have indicated that they are willing to stand for re-election if nominated. If you are a full member and would like to nominate someone as an Elder, please complete a nomination form which you can download and print here or pick up from the back of church. You will need to get your nominee’s permission and find someone to second your nomination. We are in a privileged position to see so many young people attending youth group. we have much to thank God for, however this brings along challenges. This summer we would like to take every young person on summer camp who wants to go. To that end, if you are in a position to offer youth help by funding a young person who is in financial difficulty, or drive some young people either to Stafford on Sat 2nd Aug or back to Corsham on Thurs 7th Aug, then please get in touch with Dan. Parliamentary Launch of the 2025 World Watch List, from Open Doors – Wed 15th Jan

This watch list shows the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. North Korea is still No 1, but Nigeria has more Christians killed per year than all the other countries put together. It is noted one in 7 Christians in the world suffers under persecution. Open Doors is encouraging us to write to our MPs, to invite them to attend and be informed. The World Watch List 2025 launches on 15 January 2025, when you’ll be able to discover and pray for the darkest places in the world to be a Christian. Click here to write to your MP.

This requires a commitment not only for the financial support, but for individuals to commit to this missional project at Rudloe. Plea from Souper Friday
We are very excited about the potential new Souper Friday starting in the Rudloe Community Centre. Our current outreach project at Priory Street regularly brings in 50-60 households who have no connection to God or any faith. This has been a great opportunity for us and we have seen some small successes over the 5 years we have been going, in people coming to church and getting involved in the other ministries of our church.
It regularly takes 8 volunteers to run the café and Marketplace with additional volunteers chatting to our customers. For us to be successful we will need a similar amount of new volunteers every week to make it work. So please, if you feel your heart is In helping Souper Friday at Rudloe, contact Colin Whiting, Paul Garcia, Carol Gale or Brenda New. We would love to welcome you on board. Christianity Explored Course – Thurs 16th Jan, 7.30pm

We’d love to invite you or perhaps someone you know to join our next Christianity Explored course where we will explore more about the life of Jesus. This seven-session series will give you time and space to think through who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and share your thoughts with the group in a relaxed and informal setting. We will meet for 7 weeks and each week we’ll share a meal together, read a bit of the Bible, hear a short talk and have a chat based on the talk. Bereavement ministry and support – Date TBC

As a Church we are planning to host a half day course on a Saturday morning run by Care for The Family called “The Bereavement Care Awareness Course”. The aim is to show us how best to support people we know who are suffering in grief. The Bereavement Journey Course – 5th Feb – 26th March

We will be offering another course from 5th Feb – 26th March, if you would like to sign up or receive more information please email bereavement@corshambaptists.org or visit the website to find out more. The course is for anyone who has suffered a significant loss, recently or in the past, and are finding their grief difficult to process. This is a seven week course consisting of small group discussions and videos developed by Christians. The course is open to anyone in our local community whether or not they attend CBC. Christianity Explored

We are running another Christianity Explored course starting on 16th January 2025 at 7.30pm.  Over seven sessions, one per week, guests will read Mark’s Gospel to find out more about the life of Jesus Christ. The structure of each session is simple: a short Bible study, a talk and a discussion based on the talk. We need people to volunteer to cook a simple meal each week, volunteer helpers & table leaders. Full support & training will be provided. The Men’s Ministry Schedule for the first half of 2025 has now been planned, and we will be looking at Colossians over six Tuesday’s, once a month, taking us up to June. Christianity Explored Course – Thurs 16th Jan, 7.30pm

We’d love to invite you or perhaps someone you know to join our next Christianity Explored course where we will explore more about the life of Jesus. This seven-session series will give you time and space to think through who Jesus is, why he came and what it means to follow him. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and share your thoughts with the group in a relaxed and informal setting. We will meet for 7 weeks and each week we’ll share a meal together, read a bit of the Bible, hear a short talk and have a chat based on the talk. Bereavement ministry and support – Date TBC

As a Church we are planning to host a half day course on a Saturday morning run by Care for The Family called “The Bereavement Care Awareness Course”. The aim is to show us how best to support people we know who are suffering in grief. If you are interested in this half day course, please email your interest to bereavement@corshambaptists.org so that we can book a date and provide you with more information.

The Bereavement Journey Course – 5th Feb – 26th March

We will be offering another course from 5th Feb – 26th March, if you would like to sign up or receive more information please email bereavement@corshambaptists.org or visit the website to find out more. The course is for anyone who has suffered a significant loss, recently or in the past, and are finding their grief difficult to process. This is a seven week course consisting of small group discussions and videos developed by Christians. The course is open to anyone in our local community whether or not they attend CBC. Pastoral care

Tim and Kathryn Hogg will be heading up a team to best support any ‘non-spiritual’ needs for the church. They are asking the church for willing helpers to assist where possible.
Roles include:
* Visiting to homes and hospitals to be a friendly face and listening ear
* Helping with tasks like shopping or setting up an online shopping order.
* Being part of the meal train ably run by Sarah Blaikley

We are running another Christianity Explored course starting on 16th January 2025 at 7.30pm.  Over seven sessions, one per week, guests will read Mark’s Gospel to find out more about the life of Jesus Christ. The structure of each session is simple: a short Bible study, a talk and a discussion based on the talk. We need people to volunteer to cook a simple meal each week, volunteer helpers & table leaders. Full support & training will be provided. • Women’s Bible Study: we meet once a month, usually on a Monday evening at 7.30pm, but the dates change so please check the notices for the current month! We’d love to have you join us!
• Souper Friday Café: Friday mornings from 10am-1pm. Come and enjoy a free drink, cake and soup. Open for help with food items to take away too. Speak to Colin, Carol G, Brenda or Paul G for more information.
• Toddlers: Thursdays 10:00am-11:30am during term-time only.
• Life groups meet in person and/or online. Contact us if you’d like to join one.

A cashless church
A gentle reminder that we are asking people to use the new card machine for offerings where possible instead of giving cash. You will find the machine at the back of Priory Street. Elders will be on hand at the back of the church should you need any help in using it.

Rudloe Community Centre Pledges
There is still time to fill in a pledge form before we meet as a Church on Monday 6th January to consider the next steps for the Rudloe Community Centre. You can collect a form from the back of church or ask the office to email you a copy. Even if you are unable to offer physical support, but can pledge to pray for the project, we would still encourage you to fill out the form letting us know. The pledge forms will help us decide if God is leading CBC to open a mission station in Rudloe.

Plea from Souper Friday
We are very excited about the potential new Souper Friday starting In the Rudloe Community
Centre. Our current project at Priory Street regularly brings in 50-60 households who have no
connection to God or any faith. This has been a great opportunity for us and we have seen some
small successes over the 5 years we have been going, in people coming to church and getting
involved in the other ministries of our church. It regularly takes 8 volunteers to run the café and Marketplace with additional volunteers chatting to our customers. For us to be successful we will need a similar amount of new volunteers every week to make it work. So please, if you feel your heart is In helping Souper Friday at Rudloe, contact Colin Whiting, Paul Garcia, Carol Gale or Brenda New. We would love to welcome you on board.

Family Christingle service – 22nd Dec 4pm
Join us for a fun, family event of making Christingles, hearing the Christmas story and a time of singing carols together…featuring a special costume!

Christmas Eve service – Tues 24th Dec 6pm
Join us on the night before Christmas as we join together to learn more about the birth of Jesus and what Christmas means to us as Christians.

Christmas Day service – Wed 25th Dec 10am
