Engage with global mission – Momentum Yes course for the whole church

In March and April there will be an opportunity to participate in Momentum Yes! This interactive course will open your eyes to the global picture of God at work in the world, the challenges and encouragements, and how you can get involved in ways both large and small. We will watch video clips and have discussions in small groups as we meet together online. Have a look at this two minute video clip to find out more.

This course is for all of us! We will meet on Zoom, on Friday evenings starting on 4th March and ending on 8th April, from 7.30 to 9.00 pm. If you are interested in joining, please contact Steve and Gill Bryant.

CBC Meal Train – Call for Volunteers

As many of you know CBC has a meal train ministry, which provides ready made meals (fresh or frozen) to church family members in need of additional support. This is often new parents, those recovering from illness or hospital admission, or struggling with particularly difficult life circumstances.

Currently we have a number of regular volunteers who are themselves contending with challenges and as a result, our team of volunteers would greatly benefit from new members. This ministry is a great way to offer ad hoc support to the church community and volunteering does not commit you to help every meal train, or provide any particular number of meals throughout the year.

Information is shared as and when requests come in, so volunteers can give what they feel able in terms of time and resources. If you are interested in helping, or would like to find out more, please contact Lucy Lewis on 07446 953259.

Volunteer needed

A willing volunteer is needed who can take responsibility for setting up and clearing away the communion table at the 11.15 service each month. As we aren’t currently serving the congregation from the front, at the moment all that is needed is to set up the table for the person leading communion. In due course, as we go back to serving from the front, it will mean collecting and washing up the glasses that have been used. If you are able to help in this way, please contact Ruth in the church office or any of the leadership team. We particularly need someone to take responsibility for this at the joint service on 13th March. Thank you.

Corsham Churches Food Bank

Corsham Churches Foodbank (CCFB) has remained open and operational on Tuesday and Saturday mornings throughout the pandemic. We give thanks to God for His continuing provision of volunteer time, as well as the donations of money, food items, and Nectar Points, as well as our partnership with both Sainsburys, Chippenham and the Co-op in Corsham. Our brothers and sisters at St Aldhelm’s Church have also been extremely gracious hosts for the work, as at times during “lockdown” we have needed to use almost all of their accommodation.

Prior to each of the main school holidays, we have worked with our partners in churches, as well as local schools and children’s services to provide food hampers to households going through tough times in Corsham and the surrounding villages. We are currently averaging over 80 hamper issues (well in excess of 325 shopping bags) prior to the Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks.

On behalf of the Corsham Churches Foodbank, we would like to thank the church for its steadfast support over the years. Now that things are opening up more, the CCFB notices in the Hall have been freshened up and the collecting box in the porch is now open for business again.

If you would like to find out more about this ministry, or ways that you can support it, please contact either Roger or Hazel H (09.15 Service at Priory Street – our contact details are in the Church Directory), or call the CCFB Mobile for specific queries 07788 115095.

Prayer and donations for Ukraine

If you are struggling to know how to pray for the situation in Ukraine, Tearfund has produced a helpful guide. Donations of emergency items such as food, medicines, clothes, toiletries etc are being taken at locations in Chippenham, Bradford-on-Avon and Melksham. Click here for more information. Please do not bring donations to church as we have no way to take them to a collection point.

Church office closed

Please note that Ruth will be away from today for a week and therefore the church office will be closed. It will open again on Monday 14th March. Ruth won’t have access to emails during this time.
