6pm Carol service

Come along on Sunday evening for our special service retelling the nativity story and singing God’s praises through carols old and new. And no doubt there’ll be a mince pie or two to enjoy afterwards! Offerings given at the carol service will be sent to support the ministry of Bible Society – see below for ways to give.

We will be sharing communion together at the Sunday morning services.

Our morning services at Priory Street are live-streamed and recorded on our YouTube channel. If you would prefer not to appear on screen, please sit in or under the balcony.

Gifts for Bible Society

Gifts received at the carol service on Sunday evening will go to support our mission partner Bible Society. You can give in a number of ways:

● Cash gifts placed in the offering box at Priory Street;
● Cheques (made out to Corsham Baptist Church), enclosed in one of the brown envelopes marked Gift for Bible Society and placed in the offering box. If you’re able to Gift Aid your donation, please use the yellow envelopes which are available on the table at the back of church;
● Donate online: please use the Corsham Baptist Church account with Lloyds (Sort Code: 30-91-99 Account Number: 01480604) and reference the payment “Bible Society”. If you do this and have a current Gift Aid Declaration, we will automatically reclaim gift aid unless you advise us otherwise.

Prayer walk tomorrow morning around Rudloe (Sat 16th)

Please join us tomorrow morning for a prayer walk around Rudloe. We’ll set off from Broadwood School car park at 8.30am and hope you can join us to pray for our two new works which will be launching in the new year.

Born in a Barn – thank you!

Thank you so much to all who made the nativity on the farm last Saturday run so smoothly, those who helped out behind the scenes, all the performers and those who stayed to clear up afterwards. It was a cold but epic day with over 300 visitors, many of whom weren’t regular church folk. An amazing £180 was raised for the work of Compassion. Let’s continue to pray for the ongoing impact of the message and the connections made during the day.

Dorothy Perks

Our dear sister Dorothy went to be with the Lord last week. We send our love and condolences to Shirley and Lionel. There will be a service at West Wiltshire Crematorium on Tuesday 9th January at 11.45am. This will be followed by a thanksgiving service at Priory Street at 1pm, followed by refreshments in the coffee hall. The family would love anyone wanting to say goodbye to Dorothy to come to either service.  You are kindly asked to wear bright colours, not black.

Town Carol service

The annual Corsham churches open-air Carol Service will be held on Tuesday 19th December. We’ll meet at the Christmas tree outside Haine & Smith in the high street at 6.45pm. Dress up warmly and bring a lantern or torch.

Midweek service – Carol service

The Midweek Service carol service will be held on Wednesday 20th Dec at 2pm and all are invited to come along to this special service. After the service there will be the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and fellowship together.

Upcoming service times

To avoid confusion we want to clarify the times of the services that will be held over the Christmas period:

Christmas Eve: 9.15 and 11.15 services at Priory Street

Christmas Eve evening service: Join us at 6pm for our Christmas Eve evening service. We’ll come together to sing carols and celebrate the true meaning of Jesus’ birth. Adam will share a short reflection on the significance of who the first visitors to see Jesus were, and we’ll share communion together. Afterwards, stay for a warm drink and a mince pie before heading home for the last sleep before Christmas Day!

Christmas Day service: 10am: we’ll have the opportunity to meet as a church family on Christmas Day itself. Many of us are used to encouraging our children to bring a gift to show the congregation. This year, rather than concentrate on the gifts we’ve received individually, we’ll be opening a gift together! Please help us by letting your children know about this change. Thank you.

New Year’s Eve: 10.30am: we’ll join together as one congregation for our service on 31st December. Eddie L will be preaching that day.

Christmas cards

If you have Christmas cards for folks who regularly attend CBC, you are kindly asked to distribute them personally. As a last resort, they may be put into the basket on the table at church – please don’t forget to collect any that may have been left for you. Cards for folks not attending CBC on a regular basis will not be forwarded.

CBC energy bills

With the coming of cold weather, CBC’s energy bills have inevitably gone up (sky-rocketed in fact!). Please help us to manage our energy consumption by ensuring that all lights, appliances and heaters are switched off when you leave the building.

Piano, free to a good home

Colin & Ruth Robinson have a piano which is now surplus to their requirements. The make is Kemble and it comes with a piano stool. If you can make use of these items, please contact Colin directly or via the church office.
