If you are visiting today, we're thrilled to have you with us. We come here to worship God by singing, preaching the Bible and praying together. God is the highest priority in our lives because through Jesus we have forgiveness from our sins and the hope of a new life spent with Him!
- Please switch off your mobile phone when you come in to the hall.
- Please remember to park in one of the town car parks; not along Priory St.
- Please ensure your child/ren do not play on the stage, up in the balcony or in the graveyard either before or after the service.
- We have large print bibles available for anyone who might need one. Please ask one of the ushers.
Youth Service – tonight – 18th October, 6pm
This evening the young people will be hosting a joint youth service at CBC. This event will be hosted by young people for young people, and will include a mix of refreshments, testimony, worship and teaching. Josh Holmes will host the service, four of our young people will be sharing testimony/ biblical reflections, and Matthew Little will be introducing a time of creative response. Please pray for the young people as they prepare, and meet at this event.
As a result there will be no evening service held at CBC tonight.
Instead, there will be a joint service at Gastard Church at 6pm to mark Bible Sunday. All are welcome to attend that service.
Check out our new blog, GRACE PLACE, which is geared to the women of all ages in our CBC and Rudloe communities and beyond. Look to see what books are recommended so far. Have you read any of them? Great stuff. We always appreciate feedback!
‘Connected’ is a new group designed to give busy parents an opportunity to get together to relax, have fun, share a meal and develop their relationships with Christian brothers and sisters, without the distraction of children! Our first meeting is taking place on Saturday 14th November at Priory Street, 6-11pm. Contact Tim or Beth Mills for more information firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Life Group and Future Life Group Leaders’ Day
This is taking place on Saturday 14th November from 9.30-1pm at the church. Please discuss with Vicky Stephenson if you are interested.
Youth Weekend away – Drivers needed!!
Next Friday Dan will be taking a group of about 35 people to our annual youth weekend away. However, in order to make this youth trip possible we need your help! We are in need of a couple of individuals who are willing to drive young people to and/or from Woodcroft Christian Centre (just outside Chepstow) on Friday afternoon 23rd October (We meet at Corsham Baptist Church to load up and go at 4pm) / Sunday afternoon 25th October (Arriving at the centre at approx 3pm to bring young people back to Corsham). If you can assist in regards to this, please let Dan Ovens know. Thanks very much!
Don’t forget the Ark on Saturday 31st October (the same day as the Light Party!) at 10.00am. We will also be thinking about Light (and Heaven) with puppets, bible story, songs, instruments, craft and cake. Aimed at 0-7 year olds but all welcome. Come and join in the fun!!
Annual Light Party
We will be holding our Light Party on October 31st from 5-7pm. There will be singing, games, crafts, snacks, puppets and lots of fun. This is an event for 4 to 11 year olds (all primary school children). If you are able to help with this event, please sign up on the sheet at the back of church. Areas we particularly need help with are: Set up and Set down – moving chairs on Sunday 25th October (after the evening service) and again after the event (7.30pm on 31st) and a general tidy up. Catering – Judy Davies has done a fantastic job for many years on her own and this year we would love to have a team of caterers supporting her. If you can bake please sign up and/or speak to Judy. Helping on the evening – group leaders. games co-ordinator, welcome team, registration team, face painting and worship band – Do you have any fairy lights that we could borrow? We also need clean jam jars with lids, preferably smaller jars but any will do (please include lids). If so, please name them and leave them in the church office or give them to Rhiannon.
Ladies’ Bible Study
The next study will take place on Monday 26th October, 7.30-9.15pm. Please speak to Anne Holmes for more information. Study sheets are on the table at the back.
The text for MWS on 18th October is Luke 14.25-35 and Eric will be leading and preaching. Please speak to Eric Seager if you would like more information on these fortnightly meetings.
Steve Bryant’s Thailand trip
If you would like more details about Steve’s trip, please pick up an information sheet from the table at the back of the church.
Free Christmas Stickers from the Bible Society
This year the Bible Society’s free Christmas stickers have been designed by Emma Skerratt who used to attend Corsham Baptist Church. The stickers show the names of Jesus and are designed to be used to spread the real meaning of Christmas e.g. on your Christmas card envelopes. You can find details about them at biblesociety.org.uk/stickers2015. There is also a free calendar which you can find out more about on biblesociety.org.uk/calendar2016wia. If you don’t have access to the internet of prefer talking to a person please ask Heather or Steve Chilcott!
Steph is back home from Bangladesh due to the recent security situation there. Please continue to pray for her and the Tearfund team as they come to terms with all that has happened and their feelings about being home so early. Please look at Steph’s blog for an update. Thanks.
