What to expect

What to expect

We understand that visiting a church for the first time may be a daunting experience for you, so we have put together a short description of what you can expect at a Sunday service at our Corsham Congregations.

Sunday Mornings (Priory Street 9:15am & 11:15am, Church on the Green, Rudloe 10am)

Our morning services are comprised of three main parts:

  1. Sung worship
  2. The message/sermon
  3. Kids’ work (Junior Church)

Morning services can be busy, so it is worth arriving 10-15 mins early.

Sung Worship

We kick off with the first 30-45 mins of the service with predominantly sung worship. The music genres span a wide range of styles, from traditional hymns to modern band-based music, but all songs are focused on worshipping and praising our God. Interspersed between songs there will be Bible readings, prayers, and general notices of what is going on in church life.

Kids Teaching

Towards the end of the sung worship the children will go out to their various age groups, to be taught from the Bible in an interactive manner that is both fun and educational for their age.

Adult Teaching

As a church we strongly believe that the Bible is God’s word given to us and that the entire Bible is beneficial to us. So, while the children are in their groups, the adults will listen to a message that will be focused on a specific Bible passage. This aims to explain clearly and apply the meaning of the text to the congregation. The majority of our sermons will form part of a series through a larger portion of the Bible, such as a series on a specific book in the Bible. This ultimately steers our teaching away from picking and choosing the preferred passages, and forces us to understand the full breadth of God’s message of good news.

Responding to The Message

When the sermon concludes we generally finish with a couple of songs of worship that provide space to contemplate and respond to the message. Once a month we will share in communion as a congregation, usually following the sermon, to remember Jesus’ death and resurrection to save us. As the meeting comes to a close, a prayer team will be available at the front of the church if you have any requests for prayer. Teas/coffees are served in the hall next door, and we hope you feel very welcome to stay for a drink and chat. The leadership team are more than happy to help answer any questions you have or are available if you would like to chat further at another time. Equally any member of the church would be more than happy to help you.
