This weeks updates
Youth Weekend Away
Please pray for us as the young people go on their annual youth weekend (25-27th Oct).
We are taking a bumper group of 45 young people and will be exploring the theme UNAFRAID (Mark 4:35-5:43). A massive thank you to those that are helping us transport the young people to and from Woodcroft Christian Centre!
National Week of Prayer
A reminder for the last few remaining days of Open Doors’ National Week of Prayer which ends on 20th October. You still have time to receive the last couple of daily prayers by visiting their website and signing up www.nationalweekofprayer.uk
A reminder to join us in prayer on Sat 19th for a Prayer Vigil 8am-8pm. You can also sign up to indicate when you will be participating. There will also be an International Day of Prayer on 3rd November which you can join online.
Open Doors
There’s still time to sponsor two of our young people Rhiannon Field & Will Robinson, who will be undertaking a sponsored challenge to give up their beds from the 25th Oct – 4th Nov. Rhiannon and Will are raising money to support Christians around the world who are losing things they love whether it is homes, family, security, freedom or future because of their love of Jesus. You can sponsor them here
CBC is going cashless!
A reminder that we are encouraging people to use the new card machine for offerings going forward. You will find the machine next to the offerings box at the back of Priory Street next week. The new card machine will make both offerings and paying for church events much quicker and easier meaning less cash handling for the office which has proven an administrative burden in the past. We hope you’ll help us in becoming a cashless church by making use of this quick and easy payment method. Elders will be on hand at the back of the church next week should you need any help in using it.

Bereavement Ministry and Support – Date TBC

The aim is to show us how best to support people we know who are suffering in grief. If you are interested in this half day course, please email your interest to bereavement@corshambaptists.org so that we can book a date and provide you with more information.
The Bereavement Journey Course – The next course will start after Christmas
We will be offering another course after Christmas, if you would like to sign up or receive more information please email bereavement@corshambaptists.org. The course is for anyone who has suffered a significant loss, recently or in the past, and are finding their grief difficult to process. This is a seven week course consisting of small group discussions and videos developed by Christians. The course is open to anyone in our local community whether or not they attend CBC. Please speak to Adam, Gordon or Anne Hill for more information.
Volunteers Required!
Light Party Thursday 31st Oct 5 – 7pm – help needed
This is a great opportunity to serve the families in our community and share the Gospel, it’s 2 hours to share God ‘s love to the families that come. Could you help us? There are opportunities to chat with parents as they drop their children off, or chat with those that stay or if you can’t spare 2 hours maybe you could provide snacks, prayer or help for 1 hour? If you’d prefer to help out behind the scenes there’s lots of areas we need help with: registration, kitchen tasks, setting up snacks, signing out of the children at the end.
If you aren’t free until after 7pm and are physically able, the chairs will need to be put back into the sanctuary ready for church straight after the event.
This is a great outreach event that the whole church can support, so please sign up and share Jesus the Light of the world. Sign up sheets are at the back of church along with registration forms for children attending. Helpers to arrive at 4.30 for prayer before the event. For more information please contact Rhiannon Childrensworker@corshambaptists.org
Christianity Explored
We are hoping to run another Christianity Explored course in January 2025. These will be Thursday evenings at Priory Street starting Thurs 16th January at 7:30pm. Christianity Explored is a relaxed and informal way of sharing the best news you can ever hear, and gives people space and time to think about the big questions of life. Over seven sessions, one per week, guests will read Mark’s Gospel to find out more about the life of the person at the heart of the Christian faith – Jesus Christ. The structure of each session is simple: a short Bible study, a talk and a discussion based on the talk.
We need people to volunteer to cook a simple meal each week, volunteer helpers & table leaders. Full support & training will be provided. If this is something that you would be interested in, please contact Adam via email: adamj@corshambaptists.org for more details. Also please be thinking about who you could invite to this exciting course!
