Church members’ meeting – Monday 17th October

All who attend a CBC congregation are welcome to the next church meeting at 8pm on 17th October. During the meeting we will be voting on nominations for the role of safeguarding deacon, and hearing an update on the search for an Associate Pastor.

Tearfund Big Quiz – thank you!

Thank you, church, for your support of the Tearfund quiz last Saturday, and also to those who kindly donated cakes and helped make it a fun evening. The quiz evening and Sunday services raised a total of £1,250.35 (including gift aid)! This is a substantial donation to Tearfund’s work of releasing people from poverty and transforming lives. Thank you so much. Wendy & Amanda.

Debt Advice Centre – volunteers needed

Alan Christie and Alan Simon addressed the joint service last Sunday regarding the future of the Debt Advice Ministry. We are looking for more volunteers to work with this ministry. If you weren’t at the service or you didn’t pick up either of the handouts that were at the back of the church and you’re interested in helping, please contact the church office and the relevant paperwork can be sent to you (or download them here). The handouts are the job descriptions for the volunteers we are seeking. One is for the post of Debt Advice Ministry Administrator and the other is for Money Mentors (we are looking for about 5 of these). Please pray about whether you may be able to help – and note that you don’t need to be a financial expert! We’re looking for Money Mentors who are willing to talk and listen to people with money problems, record the issues and pass them on to a qualified Debt Adviser. If you are a good listener, are able to discuss difficult issues with empathy and can welcome people who have problems, this may be the job for you!

Week of prayer for Christian unity & Bible Sunday – 10th-16th October

Corsham Churches Together have marked this coming week as the week of prayer for Christian unity. Churches in Corsham and surrounding villages will be open all week until 4pm for quiet prayer – click here for details. All are warmly welcome to St Aldhelm’s on 16th October at 6pm for the Bible Sunday service.

Hangout (for children in KS2)

The next Hangout is almost here! Join Beth and the team this Sunday afternoon from 4pm-5.30pm at Priory street for fun, food and answers to some of your questions. Speak to Beth or Rhiannon if you would like more information.

Light Party 2022!

Please join us for our annual Light Party on Monday 31st October from 5pm – 7pm. Volunteers and helpers are needed on the night, before and after the event. We will be clearing the chairs from the sanctuary after the 11.15 service on Sunday 30th Oct so please stay and help if you can. We really need help to move the chairs back after the event too – this is usually the most difficult part of running this event as we don’t have much help to do this. Please come from 7.30pm onwards (on Monday 31st) to move the chairs back if you are available – many hands make light work as they say!

We will need helpers on the night to supervise children, sign in a register for the event, serve refreshments and man the kitchen. Calling all bakers too: if you are able to bake a cake, biscuits or savoury snacks please let Rhiannon know.  Above all, please pray for this event and all the children who will be attending, that they may really learn about Jesus, the Light of the World.

For more information speak to Rhiannon (childrensworker@corshambaptists.org). Book your tickets on Eventbrite at: https://The-Light-Party-2022.eventbrite.co.uk.

Mark the date – Nativity on the Farm!

Nativity on the Farm is back on 10th December at the Priors’ farm in Castle Combe. Please speak to Rhiannon, John or Nathalie as to how you can volunteer your time for this event. Keep your eyes open for more details in the coming weeks.
