Lebanon Baptist Churches
For many years Eric and Margaret Seager have been visiting Baptist churches in Lebanon, and have been privileged to see exciting ministries and new churches founded there. The Pastor of the main Independent Baptist Church in Beirut is visiting UK this week and has agreed to give an informal talk on Christian life in Lebanon and the developing ministries that have taken place despite very difficult circumstances. All are welcome to this talk at 7.30pm this Wednesday, 29th March, in the coffee hall. Further details from Eric or Margaret.
Open Meeting
There will be another open meeting for the 9.15am congregation on 9th April at 4.30pm. Please feel free to come along if you attend the 9:15am Sunday service at Priory Street.
Cards for Persecuted Church
Easter cards for Persecuted Believers are available at the back. Please send with prayer and a verse of encouragement. See Open Doors www.opendoorsuk.org. Please contact Vanessa Naish for further details.
Superhero Holiday Bible Club 18th April – 21st April, 10am- 12.30pm
This is for primary school aged children. This year we will be looking at some Bible heroes as we gather together for our fun-filled holiday club. As always this cannot be done without the support of our fantastic church family. If you would like to serve God then there are many areas in which you can serve: Worship, leading and helping small groups, catering, welcome, registration, kitchen help, serving refreshments, sound desk, projector, set up and set down. If you would like to know more about the holiday club including how to serve, please speak to Rhiannon, who will be only too willing to talk things through with you. Please start praying for this amazing opportunity to share God with the next generation.
Uganda Youth Fundraiser
Several young people are going on the mission trip to Uganda in the summer and are holding a fundraising event. This will take place on Saturday afternoon, 22nd April, and will include coffee and cake and an auction of promises.
Let there be Science – David Hutchings
David Hutchings is a physics teacher who has recently co-authored a book on science and religion. He will be coming to give a presentation on Christianity and science working hand in hand. This will be followed by a question and answer session and refreshments. Date: Saturday 13th May @ 7:30pm at Priory Street. Please invite non-Christian friends!
Week of Prayer and Fasting
We are having a week of prayer and fasting starting tomorrow Monday March 27th and going through to Sunday April 2nd. We suggest giving up breakfast and lunch each day and using the time to come before God in prayer. A list of suggested areas for prayer each day is now available on the back table. Not everyone will be called or be able to fast in this way but we would encourage everyone to set aside time each day that week to come before God in prayer. For those who have fasted, there will be an opportunity to share a simple meal at 3.00pm on Sunday April 2nd. (Please sign-up on the sheet at the back of the church for catering purposes.) This will be followed by our monthly prayer meeting at 5.00pm (not the usual 6.00pm) which is open to everyone as usual. There are leaflets on fasting at the back prepared by Dan Ovens which you may find useful. Please take one if you are interested.
Parents’ Evening (for parents of Young People)
Dan Ovens would like to invite all parents of teens to his house (16 Arnolds Mead) on Thursday 4th May 7.30pm for a parents’ evening. The idea is to provide an opportunity for you to find out how your child is getting on, about what they get up to and future youth ministry plans (without relying on prizing information out of your child!). There will also be space for you to give honest evaluation, ask questions and share any concerns. Chat to Dan if needed!
