Adam Jacques called as Associate Pastor at CBC for Church on the Green and Evangelism

We’re delighted to let you know that, following his preach with a view last Sunday and our special church meeting, we have issued a call to Adam, and he has accepted. Please do continue to pray for Adam, Lorna and their son as they prepare to join us.

A big thank you to you all for making yourselves available at relatively short notice in the run-up to Christmas, and for participating so willingly and with such great grace and love in this important process. It’s a tremendous blessing to serve with you all!

– Rob Durant

Thank you

“I would like to thank the church family for their prayers, love and support since the death of Eric. I have had so many cards etc that it is impossible to thank everyone individually, so please accept this means of showing my gratitude.  God bless you all, Margaret.”

Christmas services

Has anyone else been irritated by Lidl’s Christmas advert (featuring a stuffed toy) with its final line – “Now that’s Christmas you can believe in”? Praise God that we have something worth believing in – the birth of the Saviour of the world!

At this time of year those who wouldn’t usually go to church are open to an invitation to attend a Christmas service. Below are the dates of our Christmas services – all are warmly welcome, there is no need to register, simply come and celebrate the birth of Jesus with us. Pick up a flyer from church to give to your friends and neighbours, or head over to our Facebook page to share with your contacts.

Sunday 18th at 10am – Church on the Green DIY Nativity
Sunday 18th at 6pm – Carols by Candlelight at Priory Street
Wednesday 21st at 2pm – Midweek carol service
Saturday 24th at 6pm – Christmas Eve communion service
Sunday 25th at 10am – Christmas Day service

Christmas begins with a child

As you prepare for Christmas, you might like to read an Advent devotion by Graham Kendrick and watch a short video of a nativity told by Kenyan children from a village that Compassion works with.

Christmas cards

If you have Christmas cards for folks who attend church regularly, you may leave them on the black shelving unit at the back of church. Likewise, collect your cards from the same place. Please make sure they are addressed with first name and surname to ensure they reach the correct recipient. Please don’t leave cards for those who don’t attend church regularly – they will not be posted on!
