Sunday Services

Church on the Green – 9.15am

Join us at 9.15am in the MOD Community Centre in Rudloe as well as on Zoom (note the earlier time). Adam, the candidate for the role of Assoc Pastor, will bring the Word from John 4: 1-26 and intercessory prayers will be led by Vanessa. Click here to join on Zoom. Meeting ID: 951 8111 0275 Passcode: 559184

Priory Street

There is no 9.15 service this week at Priory Street. We will observe an Act of Remembrance at 10.55am and a joint service will follow at 11.15am. Adam, the candidate for the role of Assoc Pastor, will bring the Word from John 4: 1-26 and David M will lead worship. Vicky S will lead intercessory prayers. The service will be streamed online – click here to join.

Do pray for Adam and his wife as they join us this weekend, that we would have a clear and united sense of God’s will for them and for CBC. This isn’t a preach with a view but the pre-cursor to that and so, if all goes well, there will be a further opportunity to hear Adam preach and to hold Q&A sessions with him before we hold a church meeting to discern whether to call him.

Community Money Advice – Corsham

Alan Simon, the current manager of the Debt Advice Centre, and Alan Christie addressed a Joint Service several weeks ago and also the recent Church Meeting regarding the future of the Debt Advice Centre. Alan S is standing down as the Ministry Leader and we have lost several advisers. We are looking for a number of ‘Money Mentors’ to help clients seeking debt advice who would pass them on to a qualified Debt Adviser once they have established the facts.

We are also looking for an Administrator to take on the running of the Centre [note that this person does not need to be a Debt Adviser].  Click here for the job description of both roles.

To date we have received 3 enquiries about becoming a Money Mentor but no enquiries for the Administrator post. If we cannot recruit an Administrator the Centre will sadly have to close. This will take time because of the necessary steps that will have to be taken with the Financial Conduct Authority. Therefore, if we cannot recruit an Administrator, the Centre will close for all new clients from the 1st January 2023. We would continue to administer existing clients for the remainder of 2023 if required but will take on no new cases. Please prayerfully consider if you can volunteer a few hours a week for either of these roles but especially the Administrator role. It would be such a shame if CBC was no longer able to offer this valuable service to our community.

Born in a Barn – a Farmyard Nativity – tickets have now sold out!

If you haven’t been able to reserve your tickets you can still be part of the nativity by signing up as a volunteer.  We still need stewards, people to serve the refreshments, bakers or suppliers of mince pies and cakes and logistics. Please sign up on the sheets at the back of church and speak to Rhiannon or John P for information.

Hang Out

Hang out is back this Sunday, from 4pm-5.30pm at Priory Street.  This group is for KS2 children and includes food, fun and Bible focus. Please speak to Rhiannon or Beth Mills for more information

Ladies Christmas Meal – Monday 5th December at 7.30pm

Ladies, a warm welcome awaits you at CBC for this Christmas meal with friends new and old. Come and join us as we celebrate this special time of year: hearing from the Word, fellowshipping together and enjoying a delicious Christmas dinner. Tickets are £12 per person (payable on the night) to help cover the food costs, but please speak to Anne H, Christine C or Vicki K if this is a hindrance to you coming; we want everyone to be able to come! You can book your place via Eventbrite by clicking here.

Please let Anne, Christine or Vicki know of any allergies or dietary requirements before the night so we can make sure these are catered for.

Pray for….Steve Bryant’s trip to Thailand

Steve will be travelling to Chiang Mai, Thailand on Wednesday 16th November to attend WEC’s international leaders’ conference. He will be giving presentations and seminars on the topics of safeguarding and caring for and supporting MKs (missionary kids). He will also visit the WEC boarding home for students attending Grace International School. Please pray for safe travel and good networking with others, and also that the teaching he delivers will be well-received and implemented. Thank you.

and the Youth Weekend Away

Please pray for the young people as they go on their annual youth weekend away. They travel today (Friday) and will be back on Sunday afternoon.

Baptism – want to find out more?

If anyone is interested in finding out more about baptism or is being challenged by God to take this step in their Christian life then we are hoping to run some classes in the new year. Please speak to one of the elders to register your interest.

Women’s Bible Study – Monday 28th Nov

Ladies, please note in your diaries our next Bible study when Sharon will be sharing from James 1: 19-27. Study buddy notes can be found here, and copies are also available on the table at Priory Street.

Africa Inland Mission vacancy

AIM is currently looking for a Mission Advisor for the South of England & South Wales. You can find out more about this role here. A previous incumbent of the role was Steve Lancaster and he would be happy to tell you more about it.

And finally…

Well done, you are now so much more informed about church news! This week’s choccy bar goes to the person who can tell me (before 9am Sunday) where the young people are spending their weekend away. Answers to office@corshambaptists.org.
