Commissioning service for Rob Durant, our new Senior Pastor
We will be joining together as one CBC congregation on 12th June at 11am at Priory Street to formally welcome Rob as our new Senior Pastor. Eddie Larkman will be bringing God’s Word and we are looking forward celebrating God’s goodness in providing for us as a Church and to committing Rob to the Lord as he takes on this vital role in the leadership of our Church. The service will be followed by tea and cake and if you are able to help by baking or serving on the day, please contact Liz Perks who is coordinating the practical arrangements for the day. ‘Hang out’ group for children
If you have kids of KS2 age (7-11 yo) please tell them about this new group just for them, meeting on the second Sunday of the month from 4.00-5.30pm at Priory Street. They can expect fun, games, food, friendship and the opportunity to ask their burning questions about the Bible. Rhiannon and Beth M will do their best to answer! The next few dates are 12th June, 10th July and 14th August.
For your diary
Our next church meeting, including our AGM, will be held on Monday 23rd May at 8pm.
Ladies, our next Bible Study evening will be on Monday 30th May. Study questions are now available – click here to download..
Friday 3rd June – special Souper Friday café in celebration of our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! Come along for strawberries and cream, refreshments and a yummy cream tea. We’re planning to broadcast the Thanksgiving Service from St. Paul’s Cathedral live!
Opportunity to serve
Pam Mitchell has been faithfully leading the Craft Group for many years. She will be stepping aside from leading the group and we are looking for a new person to take over this role. If you feel that could be you, Pam would love to hear from you and talk you through all the details.
Please note that June’s craft group will meet on 11th June, not the 4th due to the church being unavailable on that day.
Thanks from the Bible Society
We recently sent our annual gift to our mission partner, Bible Society and we have received this reply: “On behalf of the whole team at Bible Society, thank you so much for the recent generous gift to support Bible mission, both at home and overseas. We are so encouraged by your partnership in gospel ministry. With every blessing.” Bible Society has many resources for church and family – click here to find out more, or speak to our own Sue Wingrave.
Dementia Awareness Week 16-22 May
Thousands of people in the UK are living with dementia, including some in our own church. Organisations such as Dementia UK will be raising awareness of this terrible disease this coming week. How can we, as Christians, support and pray for those who are affected by dementia, whether first- or second-hand? You might like to read this helpful and encouraging article from Faith in Later Life which asks, ‘What happens to faith when Christians get dementia?’
