Gathered to Pray – focus on Compassion UK

We’re looking forward to welcoming our guest speaker from Compassion UK this Sunday evening as he shares news of the ministry’s work in supporting disadvantaged children and young people across Africa, Asia and South America. Please come along at 5.15 for refreshments and the meeting will start at 6pm. If you’re able to bring cake or biscuits (including gluten-free) they will be gratefully received and enjoyed! Please also consider leaving a financial gift on Sunday evening which will be sent to Compassion to support its ministry.

Communicating the plan for new works in Rudloe/Neston

If you attended or watched one of the services last Sunday you may remember the announcement about the Oversight Team sharing the plan for the new works in Rudloe/Neston and Corsham. A hard copy of the plan is available to collect from Priory Street, or you can download it here. Please continue to be much in prayer for these plans.

Midweek service – Weds 7th June

Come along on Wednesday for our fortnightly midweek service. Alan C will be bringing us God’s word from John 5: 1-20, ‘The invalid at the pool’ and refreshments will be served afterwards.

Hang Out – Sunday 11th June

Dear Key Stage 2 parents/guardians, this is a heads up about the next Hang Out. Please send your KS2 children along to Priory Street on Sunday 11th June (4:00-5:30pm) for fun, food & fellowship. Any questions, please see Beth Mills or Rhiannon.

Women’s Bible Study notes

Dear sisters in Christ, we continue on with our studies for June as we complete the book of James. Ruth has prepared study buddy notes for us so we can be prepared for our next meeting which will be on 26th June at 7.30pm. You can collect the notes from church or download them here.

Urgent Children’s Work Helper Volunteers Needed

CBC is hugely blessed with a large number of children – but this means we need your help. We have a legal responsibility to provide enough helpers for each group, otherwise groups have to stop. Helpers don’t need to prepare or lead anything, we just need you to support the leader and children where needed. You should be prepared to have an enhanced DBS check and attend safeguarding training. You will be able to indicate on the application form how often you are prepared to help.

9:15 Junior Church

The 9:15 junior church has come under huge pressure in recent weeks as we must have at least two adults for each group, suitably DBS checked and safeguarding trained.  We are grateful to two parents for stepping forward so that we can keep this valuable work going in the short term but we could really do with more support going forward. Please would 9:15 and 11:15 congregation members consider whether they could support this important work for our children, maybe on an occasional basis. For more information and/or to apply to help, please click on the link here.

11:15 Junior Church (3-7 year age group)

This group can be a large one and it sometimes requires a third adult per session. It may be possible that, if there are fewer children some Sundays, you can go back into the service. For more information and/or to apply to help, please click on the link here.

FLAGS (Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm primary-aged children)

This is a group run by Rhiannon at Priory Street where primary-aged children gather to do crafts, activities and hear Bible stories. For more information and/or to apply to help, please click on the link here.

Thank you. For further information, please contact Rhiannon (childrensworker@corshambaptists.org) or Elspeth (elspethp@corshambaptists.org)

Men’s Weekend Away – 1st-3rd September

This year’s Men’s Weekend Away will be at Windmill Farm Retreat Centre near Clanfield, OX18 2SN (about an hour’s drive away). The dates are Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd September (usually home around lunchtime on Sunday).  The cost will be £65 per person (concessions available as required) – the priority is to have you there so please come and have a chat with Ian H or Tom B if funding is an issue.  Our brother Steve Lancaster will bring us teaching on Ephesians ch 1 over three sessions under the title “Who am I in Christ?”

There will be plenty of food (chef duties ably supplied by our brother Tim H), walks out, worship, and nightly fellowship around the firepit.  Bookings will be via Eventbrite (link available soon).  In the meantime, please click here for a virtual tour of the venue.

New church video

You may remember that back in April our 11.15 service was filmed for a new video to be produced that will give visitors and enquirers a taste of church life. That video is now complete and can be watched on our website and YouTube channel – click here to watch. Many thanks to Jasmine, Ben and Harvey for all their hard work!
