Church Meeting
Our last church meeting of the year will take place tomorrow night, Monday 5th October at 8pm. Agendas and minutes are on the table at the back so please take a copy before the meeting.
Tanzania Mission Trip
CBC is sending a team to serve at a conference of AIM missionaries in Tanzania, 12-20 October. Eddie and Kathy will stay on to visit Steve and Ruth Lancaster at their home and work in Morogoro, returning 23rd October. Please pray for a fresh anointing of God’s Spirit for all involved in this conference.
Same-Sex Marriage
Following on from previous notices regarding book recommendations on this subject, we are planning to run a morning meeting dedicated to this issue. The meeting will take place at Church on Saturday 10th October from 9am-12.30pm. The morning will include biblical teaching and will cover pastoral issues related to SSM. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion during the morning. Eddie, Rob and Dan will be leading the meeting.
** Harvest Offerings **
The crisis facing refugees in Austria is ongoing, and we would like to take every opportunity of helping the Oasis Centre in its work amongst them. We are currently investigating the possibility of sending out a small team to help at the Oasis Centre, and this will need our financial support. We shall be donating our harvest offerings today to the Refugee Crisis. Cheques should be made payable to CBC. Any further donations should be given in an envelope marked ‘REFUGEE CRISIS’. If you qualify for gift-aid, fill in your details on a gift-aid envelope. Our tinned donations will be going to the Corsham Churches Food Bank.
“Grace Place”
There is a new blog which has recently been launched call “GRACE PLACE.” The website is cbcgraceplace.wordpress.com. This is geared toward women of all ages in our two communities of CBC, Rudloe and beyond. Take a look and find out who the contributors are! Grab a cuppa and take a look!
“Meals” Ministry
The provision of meals on wheels to new families and those who are ill and needing meals, is a busy and much-appreciated service. We are looking for a co-ordinator who can arrange the meals as needed. Mike and Sarah Blaikley have done a great job but have to stop this from December 2015. Is there someone, or a couple, who can co-ordinate from next January? If you feel you can serve in this way or would like further information, please contact the Blaikleys or Joan Cooper.
Annual Light Party
We will be holding our Light Party on October 31st from 5-7pm. There will be singing, games, crafts, snacks, puppets and lots of fun. This is an event for 4 to 11 year olds (all primary school children). If you are able to help with this event, please sign up on the sheet at the back of church. Areas we particularly need help with are: Set up and Set down – moving chairs on Sunday 25th October (after the evening service) and again after the event (7.30pm on 31st) and a general tidy up. Catering – Judy Davies has done a fantastic job for many years on her own and this year we would love to have a team of caterers supporting her. If you can bake please sign up and/or speak to Judy. Helping on the evening – group leaders. games co-ordinator, welcome team, registration team, face painting and worship band – Do you have any fairy lights that we could borrow? We also need clean jam jars with lids, preferably smaller jars but any will do (please include lids). If so, please name them and leave them in the church office or give them to Rhiannon.
*This event can’t run without your help and support. Thank you !!**
‘Connected’
Connected is a new group designed to give busy parents an opportunity to get together to relax, have fun, share a meal and develop their relationships with Christian brothers and sisters, without the distraction of children! This is more than just a social; it’s about building each other up in Christ to be a light in our busy worlds and to encourage each others’ families to stay faithful to Christ in our increasingly secular society. We plan to meet once a month on a Saturday evening. So, if you’d like to join us, please speak to Tim and Beth Mills for more information.
Proverbs 27:17 “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 “and let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Steph Grylls in Bangladesh
Please pray for Steph as she is on mission in Bangladesh until December. You can follow her progress via this web link http://missioninbangladesh1778.blogspot.co.uk/
