6pm Mission Focus Together
This is an all-church service, an opportunity to pray for our mission partners. We would love to welcome and encourage at least one person from each church family to come along – you don’t have to pray out loud and it doesn’t matter how young or old you are!
We will be sharing communion together at the morning services this Sunday.
Our morning service at Priory Street is live-streamed / recorded on our YouTube channel. If you would prefer not to appear on screen, please sit in or under the balcony.
Prayer walk – tomorrow morning
Please join us on a prayer walk for Neston tomorrow morning. We’ll set off from Neston Memorial Hall at 8.30am.
Tech Q&A drop-in morning: tomorrow, 10am-12.30pm
A reminder that we’re holding a drop-in Q&A tomorrow morning so if you are:
- A member of a tech rota with questions about how things work;
- Thinking about joining a tech rota but want to know more first;
- Wanting some basic knowledge like how to switch on….
…then please pop in and we’ll be there to help and inform you.
Church meeting and elections
Please mark Monday 29th April in your diary as the date of the next church meeting which will be held at Priory Street at 8pm. At that meeting we will, God willing, be voting on the nominations for the roles of Treasurer and Church Secretary (both Trustee roles). Nomination forms will be available at both services this Sunday – please prayerfully consider who you might nominate for these positions (you will need to seek their consent to be nominated) and submit your nomination via the church office before Sunday 28th April. Please note that only full church members can make a nomination and only full church members can be nominated.
Introducing NESTON YOUTH HUB!
In partnership with St Philip & St James parish church, we are excited to announce that we will be launching this new youth initiative on Thursday 25th April and fortnightly thereafter. It will run from 7.00-8.30pm in the parish church. If you have, or know of, children in the Neston area (aged 9-13) then please invite them and help us spread the word! And please pray for the youth team as they seek to build bridges and reach young people with the Good News of Jesus.
Loft clear-out pt.2 – 20th April
Huge thanks to those who came last Saturday to help clear out the loft – we made good progress, fuelled by bacon & sausage butties! But there is still work to do so we’ve scheduled part 2 of the clear-out for Saturday 20th April from 9am. If you can spare a couple of hours to help move and sort stuff, please let Jonny or Hollie know. Thanks!
Men’s Ministry: dates for your diary
Brothers, please join us on Tuesday 23rd April, 7.30pm at Priory Street for our monthly men’s evening when we will be hearing from Eddie Larkman. He will be sharing on, among other things, the subject of suffering, loss and bereavement.
Please also note 28th May in your diaries when our guest speaker Barry Funnell will be sharing with us how God used a student prank gone badly wrong to radically change the course of his life, and how being wheelchair-bound doesn’t stop him from travelling the world with Bible translation ministry The Word For the World.
Raising Confident Kids in a Confusing World – Tues 21st May at Emmanuel Church, Chippenham
We all want our children to be confident of who they are and able to make good decisions for themselves, but they are hearing conflicting messages. And too often, Christian parents feel nervous and intimidated talking to their children on the subjects of bodies, gender, sexuality and their sense of self. This evening is to inspire parents and carers that they are God’s Plan A for showing their children the Bible’s better answers on these topics. The event is being organised by Faith in Kids, and Ed Drew, Ministry Director, will serve up an evening of Biblical truth and practical wisdom, with real-life stories and a generous sprinkling of humour. It’s perfect for parents at every stage of family life, from birth through to the teenage years, as well as for grandparents, leaders and anyone else who wants to be part of the wonderful challenge of raising children to lead flourishing lives for Christ. The evening will run from 7.45pm-8.30pm. You can register to attend here.
Thanksgiving service for Joseph Glasgow
Many of you will remember Joseph, who used to attend our midweek service and Souper Friday cafe. He passed away recently and a private funeral was held in Bath. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday 19th April at midday at St Aldhelm’s Church. All who knew Joseph are warmly invited to attend.
Volunteer required – Designated Person for Safeguarding
We are very grateful to Kate Harding for being the Designated Person for Safeguarding (DPS) at CBC and prior to this Deputy DPS. She will be stepping down from this role at the end of April due to her move back to Australia. We are therefore looking for a volunteer, ideally with the relevant experience, to work in the Safeguarding Team as DPS – click here to read the role description. Please get in touch with Elspeth Pitman on elspethp@corshambaptists.org for further details or to express an interest.
Volunteer required – Health & Safety Ministry Leader
Matt Wingrave has been leading this ministry very ably over the last 18 months, for which we are very grateful, but he is stepping down this month. If you would be interested in taking on this role, please speak to Jonny Street or any of the trustees. Click here to read the role description.
