Church meeting: 22nd January
If you attend any of CBC’s services on a regular basis, you are warmly invited to come to our next Church Meeting which will be on Monday 22nd January at 8pm. The agenda can be collected from church on Sunday morning or you can download it here.
Hope Explored
You are warmly invited to join us for this short course exploring the hope that can be found in Jesus. This is a really great way of introducing new people to the Bible and who Jesus is. The course will run for three consecutive Fridays, starting 9th February, from 10.30am-12.00pm in the Hut. If you’re interested in discovering more please contact Adam on adamj@corshambaptists.org.
The Ark: Saturday 27th January
The first Ark of the year is coming up at the end of the month and all children are invited to this fun service which includes Bible stories, games, crafts, singing and puppets! You can sign up on Eventbrite here, and keep an eye on the Ark Facebook page here for more info. The team is also needing some additional helpers, so if you have a couple of hours spare on that Saturday morning please contact Sara Stone.
CBC Choir
If you enjoy singing come and join the CBC choir! We’re a friendly bunch and we love to have new people join us. We’ll soon be meeting again to practice some new songs after a very successful season of Christmas events. Please speak to Karen Hurley or Colin Whiting for more information.
Bereavement courses
Two new bereavement courses will be starting soon, running for seven weeks. One course will run weekly on Mondays, starting 29th January, from 10am-12pm and the other will run weekly on Wednesdays, starting 31st January, from 7.30-9.30pm. If you’re interested in joining a course please contact Adam on adamj@corshambaptists.org.
Thank you from AIM
Africa Inland Mission wrote to us recently to say, “Please pass on our grateful thanks to the members of Corsham Baptist Church for their donation of £2,500 to AIM International, and for their partnership in making Jesus known to all African peoples. Your gift has been allocated to the Institute of Bible & Ministry and Sanga Sanga Retreat Centre.” These are the projects where Steve & Ruth Lancaster served for several years, teaching and discipling the pastors and evangelists of the Africa Inland Church.
Meal Train – Coordinator needed
Our Meal Train Ministry has been running for many years, blessing members of our church family at times of both joy and challenge. The meal train provides up to two weeks of meals to those who have welcomed new babies or are going through difficult times due to illness or injury. Meals are provided by a rota of generous volunteers and are set up (with the help of a very useful online app) by the coordinator.
Since 2020 the Meal Train Ministry has been coordinated by Lucy Lewis, who will sadly be leaving Corsham Baptist Church later this year. Meal Train coordination is straightforward and there is a clear process in place already. On average, we deliver a meal train every other month and coordination takes 1-2 hours per meal train. So this is a great ministry for someone interested in getting more involved in church life and getting to know church members, but who doesn’t have loads of time to offer. For more information please contact Lucy Lewis on 07446 953259.
Supporting Persecuted Christians – SAT-7/Open Doors event with Michelle Donelan MP
Michelle Donelan, MP for the Chippenham Constituency, invites you to attend her event with Open Doors and SAT-7 at Christ Church, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1SJ on Friday 26th January. This will be an opportunity to hear directly from Open Doors, SAT-7 and Fiona Bruce MP, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief, on the steps they are all taking to support persecuted Christians around the world.
Open Doors will discuss the new World Watch List, the annual ranking of the 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution. SAT-7 will share stories of faith from the Middle East and North Africa and how its ministry is supporting isolated and persecuted Christians across that region. Fiona Bruce will discuss her role bringing together UK efforts to promote religious tolerance abroad and give an update on actions the UK government is taking to support persecuted Christians abroad.
The event will begin at 18.00 and finish at 20.00. Light refreshments will be provided. Free car parking can be found at Christ Church Primary School at Berryfield Road, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1ST. To get your free ticket, sign up at this link https://buytickets.at/michelledonelanmp/1121693.
