Prayer walk tomorrow morning around Neston (Sat 28th)

Please join Matt G tomorrow morning as he leads a prayer walk around Neston. We’ll set off from the Memorial Hall in Neston at 8.30am and do hope you can join us.

Sunday Service – 200th anniversary – 10.30am

This special service will be a reflection on the Lord’s faithfulness, kindness and provision over the years and all our congregations will come together in praise and worship! Our former pastor Graham Culver will bring a message from Hebrews 13: 7-16 and sung worship will be led by Nancy. Intercessory prayers will be led by Eddie L. The service will be streamed online – click here to join.

Our morning services at Priory Street are live-streamed/recorded on our YouTube channel. If you would prefer not to appear on screen, please sit in or under the balcony.

Clocks go back – but don’t be late – come worship with us!

The clocks go back one hour this Sunday morning – so you technically get an extra hour in bed… But you’re not going to want to be late for church! In fact – you might want to be a touch early, because worship will start at 10.25!

That’s right – let’s come together with hearts that are ready and singing as we celebrate God’s faithfulness and goodness to us at this very special CBC service!

Harvest food collection

On Sunday, while we look back on God’s goodness and care for us over our 200 years, we’ll also look outward into our community as we celebrate harvest. Everyone is invited to bring an item of non-perishable food to donate. These contributions will go directly to our Souper Friday ministry. This is a very practical way we can help local families in our community, and share God’s love. (If you’d like some ideas for what to donate, have a look here at items that are in demand.)

Alternatively, you are welcome to make a monetary donation; these gifts will go to Tearfund. If you can gift aid your donation, it will go even further – please use the yellow Gift Aid envelopes on the table in the sanctuary.

Church Family Photo

At the close of our anniversary service we’ll be taking a whole church family photo to remember this special occasion for years to come! Everyone is invited to stay for the photo! It’s a lovely way to capture the CBC story and reflect on God’s faithfulness over the years. However, we recognise that some people would prefer not to be photographed so, after the last song, Adam will close the service and we’ll have a couple of moments for anyone not wishing to take part to move into the hall. By remaining in the sanctuary you give consent for the photo to be kept as part of our historical archives and used on our CBC website / social media. If you have any questions, please speak to Hollie or Jasmine.

Calling all bakers!

If you’re able to provide cup cakes or tray bakes for the anniversary service please let Liz Perks or Hollie Gale know (or Ruth in the office). Thank you!

Women’s Bible Study – Monday 30th Oct

Ladies, we’re looking forward to our next study when Jill will be sharing from 1 John 1. Join us for a cuppa at 7.30pm and we’ll start by 7.40pm. If you can’t join us in person, the message will be recorded and posted in our blog Grace Place and on Facebook in the CBC Captivated group.

Light Party – Tuesday 31st Oct – help needed

This is a great opportunity to serve the families in our community and share the gospel – it’s 2 hours out of your week to share God’s love to the families that come. We need people to support the children in the activities and come alongside the little people. If you ‘don’t do children’ then there is lots to do behind the scenes: registration, kitchen stuff, setting up snacks, signing out the children at the end. There are opportunities to chat with parents as they drop their children off, or chat with those that stay.

If you can’t spare 2 hours maybe you can bake? Provide snacks? Pray? Help for 1 hour? If you aren’t free until after 7pm and are physically able, the chairs will need to be put back into the sanctuary ready for church. We will be moving the chairs back at 7.30 on Tuesday evening. This is a great outreach event that the whole church can support, so please sign up and share Jesus, the Light of the world. Helpers are asked to arrive at 4.30pm for prayer before the event.

Men’s Christmas Curry Night – book now!

It’s approaching that time of year for the Men’s Christmas Curry, and this year it will take place at CBC Priory Street on Thursday 23rd November at 7:30pm.  It will be a great time of fellowship together, and we will be hearing about a new series of Men’s Evenings that will commence monthly from January 2024. Please click here to register to attend, or scan the QR, or speak to Ian Holmes or Tom Bailey. We look forward to seeing you there!

Youth Weekend Away

Dan writes: “A massive thank you to those who prayed for us as we took the young people away. And for the amazing team of leaders who attended to help make our time such a success, especially our wonderful chefs Alan & Karen Paddock. Somehow, we escaped any rain and had a great time of fun and learning from the book of Esther, with several making faith commitments.”

Last but not least…Christmas carol service

Well done for reading this far! CBC’s Christmas carol service will be held on Sunday 17th December at 6pm. If you are able to play an orchestral instrument (confidently), can read music and would like to be part of the service, please contact Nancy Sawyer, or speak to Ruth in the church office.
