CBC Community Week 10-16 June – it’s here!

It’s not too late to pick up invitations to invite your friends and family to our Community Week events. From board games, butchery and BBQs to singing and scones, there is sure to be something for everyone! Check out corshambaptists.org/events for more details so you can prayerfully think about who you’d like to invite. For the tech savvy, WhatsApp invites are available from the office, and head over to the CBC Facebook page to share our posts with your friends & family. At each event our guests will hear a short message about the difference Jesus makes to our lives – please PRAY that the Lord will use these opportunities to speak into people’s lives.
Mission Prayer update
This month’s mission prayer document is now available to collect from church.
Ladies Bible Study – Monday 24th June
Ladies, a reminder that our next Bible study will be on 24th June when the lovely Hannah will be sharing with us from 1 John. Study buddy notes are available to collect from church, or on Grace Place here.
Meal Train Coordinator needed
We’re still seeking a Coordinator for our Meal Train Ministry, which blesses our church family with meals during times of joy or challenge. Meals are provided by a rota of volunteers and are set up (with the help of a very useful online app) by the coordinator. Meal Train coordination is straightforward and there is a clear process in place. On average, we deliver a meal train every other month and coordination takes 1-2 hours per meal train. So this is a great ministry for someone interested in getting more involved in church life and getting to know church members, but who doesn’t have loads of time to offer. For more information please contact Lucy Lewis on 07446 953259.
Men’s weekend away
The Men’s Weekend Away will be at the YHA Llangattock Mountain Bunkhouse, Crickhowell, in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The dates are Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd September with an option to stay until Monday morning at no extra cost. The cost is £85 per person (concessions available as required) – the priority is to have you there so please come and have a chat if funding is an issue.
Teaching will be by Mark Fossey, Senior Pastor at Redeemer Church in Croydon. Mark has been involved in church ministry and church planting for over 20 years in central and suburban London. There will also be plenty of food, walks out, coffee in the local village, worship, and nightly fellowship around the fire-pit. To reserve your space please complete the google form here. Payment can be made via bank transfer – details below.

Prayer request from The Word for the World
Steve Lancaster asks for prayer for BIble translation teams in a restricted country in south-east Asia where they face tough daily challenges. Here’s what a couple of translators requested: “Pray for peace. There is now no internet access where I live due to the ‘sensitive zone’; pray for the safety of my family”. “Pray for my family’s safety due to conscription. We are living under uncertainty and full of anxiety.”
Big Church Festival 2025
This year a few members from CBC went to the Big Church festival at Wiston estate, West Sussex. It’s the largest Christian music festival in the UK – spread over a weekend you can immerse yourself in fantastic worship music and much more. www.bigchurchfestival.com. We are looking to see if enough people want to go next year to make a group booking. There are various ways of doing it. Follow the link above to see what it’s all about and then, if you are interested in booking for next year, please speak to John & Amanda Godwin, Heather & Colin Whiting or Wendy Rowe and we will be happy to tell you more. We will need to commit to booking before the end of August 2024.
